Split Rock park is one of my favorite places to take friends and family who visit me in Minnesota. In the fall, the view of the lighthouse is magical with all the aspen trees and rocky ledges. Sometimes lake Superior is extremely rough which is what my painting features and other times its a smooth glassy lake. I did this painting in acrylics which is a little unusual for me, but I love the layers of color and the speed of paint drying. Once I get into the zone painting, its hard to stop and using acrylics allows me to continue layering paint upon paint and finishing my project quicker. This painting has a wonderful flow and more realism because of that.
